Our History

The history of Dakhni (South) Sikhs can be traced back to the visit of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, who was accompanied by his two disciples Bala (a Hindu) and Mardana (a Muslim). They travelled dakhan (south) part of India including Hyderabad. Three centuries later, in 1707 A.D. Guru Gobind Singh Ji travelled Nanded on the banks of river Godavari. The Saga of Guru Gobind Singh Ji explains a true heroism. He sacrificed everything that was dear to him for the protection of Dharma in India.

Guruji has a troop of 500 sikhs who had travelled with him to hazoor sahib nanded. After a year some of these sikhs asked to return to their homes in punjab and Guruji allowed them to go back to their families with some treasure. Guruji asked remaining sikhs to return to their homes too with treasure but these sikhs refused to leave his side and replied humbly, “We cannot live without your darshan”. It was on October 7, 1708 A.D. when Guru Gobind Singh Ji returned to his eternal abode. Before he left, he addressed all sikhs that he is leaving the body but his soul will always be in Guru Granth Sahibji and that was when he said “Aagya Bhyi Akal Ki Tbi Chalayo Panth, Sab Sikkhan Ko Hukum Hai Guru Maniyo Granth” .

Since Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj said that his soul will always reside in Guru Granth Sahib Ji, sikhs named the place as “Shri Hazoor Sahib” knowing that Kalgiyan Wale Pita is always Hazir(Present) and they stayed back and made Nanded their home by marrying into local families. The descendants of these sikhs today are known as Dakhni Sikhs.

Our Mission

Our mission is to educate such children who cannot afford to study. We have been surveying the unvisited areas of the city where people are thriving just to keep their head above the water. The scenes are so heart wrenching that any person will melt and stand up for these children. However, such areas have been overlooked by the well settled societies and due to lack of knowledge and awareness such societies have failed to maintain good socioeconomic status.

Future Plans

Stadium For Students

Considering the sports side of the nation, many children has made India proud with their dedication towards sports. Students at Shri Dashmesh Jyot are also determined towards different sports like Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Basketball, etc. However, due to lack of resources our students don’t get all the facilities to practice still they are perseverant towards their aim.

Observing such dedication in students towards sports, we are planning to build a decent stadium at Hazur Sahib Nanded. Also, the city do not have its own stadium where youngsters and kids can practice different sports.

Hockey Ground

Recently our students represented the school at state level in hockey tournament. Shri Dashmesh Jyot students carry a craze for learning hockey. We are planning to provide our student a professional ground in nearing future for better experience and practice.

Hostel for Students

Children from other cities or countries should also be able to study at Shri Dashmesh Jyot. We are planning to construct a decent hostel for our students, who wants to stay at the campus and complete their study.
